saw Hendrix play the Star Spangled Banner at sunrise the memory of a lifetime- party party in the mud

Now it’ time for me to leave you now 
it’s army green that’s all I’ll wear …while I’m away from you- …while I’m away from you

- Airborne - Airmobile that was me. 

Landing here it’s all so new to me …the people stand and walk like me …

Finally left Vietnam - landed at Kennedy Airport my uniform - spotless, 
my medals they were shining’ including the Bronze Star for Valor from the 101st Airborne Division - Airmobile 

walked thru that door to Kennedy Airport 
…smellin’ and thinkin’ like a Twinky - …
I was a garbage can with the lid on for a year 

Anyway - walked thru that door my uniform spotless,
my Bronze Star for Valor shining’ 
walked thru that door and they spit on me and called me a baby killer - 
they spit on that Bronze Star for Valor -Welcome home
