Soft Strong Children
The pictures tell the story of how it used to be
the pictures bring them glory and lights the love in me
for friends long gone and banished but brought to memory
with pictures of their story and how it used to be
Soft strong children - sent with razors and a knife
a helmet for our whiskers - a gun to end the life
of boys soft strong with whiskers and beards not fully grown
Soft strong children - who never made it home
but now all we see are pictures of how it used to be
and our eyes can see their whiskers and our hands can feel the fear
of soft strong children - not pictures on a wall soft strong children -
framed because of war
framed because of war
The pictures tell the story of how it used to be
the pictures bring them glory and lights the love in me
for friends long gone and banished but brought to memory
with pictures of their story and how it used to be
of soft strong children - not pictures on a wall
soft strong children - framed because of war
framed because of war
